Part 3: 30, Flirty and Thriving

Updated: Dec 5, 2021

A self portrait photo series

This is part 3 of my my 3-part photo series. I'm turning 30 soon. It's kind of a big deal, after turning 13, 16, 18, and 21. I really love my 20s and still wish I could look like I'm 23. But I'm not, so I reminiscing on my younger years, remembering my 20s, and celebrating this new decade!

It's my birthday today! I'm officially 30 (cue Bo Burnam singing, "30"). Us elder millennials wills joke that we were born and lived through the 1900s! No joke, I really wish I was still in my [early} 20s. I wish I had that metabolism, that optimistic curiosity of the world, wish I still was bright-eyed and full of dreams of living in NYC or somewhere abroad.

Now I'm 30, married and a homeowner, the last two I thought would actually never happen! So those were unexpected/unplanned surprises in my mind's plan. I actually traveled a bit in my 20s (London, Dublin, France (twice), Mexico, Jamaica), but I definitely wish I could have gone more. Of course, when you are starting life you need money. Which as a journalist right out of college, I did not have! I was just scrapping by.

I'm pretty sad my youth is slipping away. Some days, I feel like I didn't get all I could out of it. Sometimes I wish I could change some scenarios. But then, I wouldn't be where I am today, and I really like where I am right now (especially because as of publishing this post, I will exploring castles and Christmas markets in France).

Thanks for the lessons and memories, 20s! I'm ready and excited to see what my 30s have in store!
